Discipline, one of the grand things that distinguish between the disciplined and the undisciplined. Lol... one of the grand things that distinguish between the progressive and unprogressive. Not in means of political advocacy, hmm maybe yes, but more importantly as an human trait or view and habits on ones life per se. Progressive as a trait which implies continuous development for ones body and mind, one luring the other, not necessarily but in some ways.
The alarm ticks at 6:00AM and it's winter, so there is no sun out there yet, the student needs to wake up to prepare for school. Why so early? because he lives far from school and he needs to change two trains not to be late, ok? Ok, he lives by himself, so he needs to make his breakfast but he skips it and rather sleeps 15 minutes more, when he wakes up again, he thinks that he is more ready for the day, but the 15 minutes dragged him to the lesser point of being ready, it demotivated him, he didn't eat, all for the 15 minutes of sleep which is not even the recommended time for the perfect nap. Ok let's stop with this, a morning is like someone maybe said, the root of the day, and this guy cut the root and threw it in the fire that was already burning like hell, literally or not.
Throwing away his breakfast to void-in to a mere state of presleep. Now he lacks energy, he is less motivated because of his weak control over himself and he says bad things to himself which is really bad and things like that, but i guess he got used to it, just like he got used to moaning over bad grades and good grades.
Now if he had the trait of being disciplined, and woke up even before the alarm which is not trully connected with being disciplined, but however. If he had acquired discipline through whatever experience possible, serving in Vietnam, having disciplined parents, a bad-*** teacher, being imprisoned... being imprisoned? hmm maybe not -- his day would be simply different, i think he would even have made a better hairstyle for school, and teachers would love him more, maybe he could have even made a grand discovery while making his breakfast, something related with kitchen, fire and eggs, and he could have got a nobel prize for something related to kitchen, fire and eggs, maybe a price for ecology or something like that.

Top-level comments on this article: (5 total)Your article made me think, HyunSoung. I think discipline that's fear or pain driven can't last and isn't healthy. But the kind that comes from the desire to do something one loves is the kind that's really effective.
I also think often people - or kids - are criticized for not being disciplined, when in fact they're just being honest; being forced to do something that doesn't make their heart sing. Give them something more in tune with who they are and the discipline will be natural.Great insight Jennifer! Well put, I totally like your idea, that would be real good discipline.
Very good. Discipline, however, must be developed at young. Having good disciplines and attitudes definitely determines a person's present and future well being.Yeah, I agree, and so we have to imply the importance to caretaking people and the educational institutions for the youngsters to shape them in the best possible way for the world.
Hi Hyun I loved the article. I remember my dad saying that we had to have a hot drink inside us before going out to school or work in the morning, but being young the 15 minutes extra in bed was more important to me at the time. I also remember him saying that we waste our lives in bed, and now being older, I wish I had listened.
Keep well
Kacy.Haha, i guess it is same with most of us, i even took 2 minutes of more sleep precious. Bed is good, but its more lively to be up :). Thank you Kacy :)
The teaching aspects and deletorious aspects of discipline can actually be the same. It depends on the subject. Yes, life is full of many examples of "good teaching", but there are souls who fail to benefit one wit from something that others thrive under. Great article.Thank you Christofer, always!
Very good point about discipline. The times that I was disciplined I succeeded--the times I was not I did not do as well. Discipline--taking the time to concentrate, plan, work, sacrifice for your goal is essential. Great article subject!Thank you for bolding and summing up the subject.
